What brand of MiniDV tapes should I use for my Canon XL2? - how good are sony premium tapes

I use Sony Premium tapes and sometimes I use a Sony MiniDV cleaning head. I stay away from cheap brands and stick to Sony, because I know they will use a type and stick to it. But is there a better price than before? I had no problems, they just want the best for my XL2. And I heard that the size of the problems that a particular brand of tape tape brings with it can cause its bigger (too big) for some cameras and jams, and I heard the Sony not fat band.
